Enugu Faces 10 Days of Darkness Starting October 22

Residents of Enugu are being advised to prepare for a significant power outage scheduled to begin tomorrow, Wednesday, October 22, and lasting until Thursday, October 31. The blackout, affecting multiple communities across the region, will occur daily between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, as announced in a recent Facebook post.

The affected areas include Ekulu, Ugwuogo, Ituku Ozalla, Emene, Emene Industrial, Abakpa, Trans-Ekuku, Nowas, Ugbo Odogwu, and Thinkers Corner, among others. A separate notice highlighted additional communities such as Ugbo Nnebedum, Nkpolongwu, 9th Mile, Shoprite, Golf Estate, Zoo Estate, Okpara Avenue, Kingsway, Abakiliki Road, CBN Quarters, Railway Quarters, Artisan, Ngwo, Coal Camp, Ologo Quarters, Uwani, Asata, Golden Royale, Iva Valley, Centenary City, Ugwuaji, Amechi, and Obeagu, which will also experience supply interruptions.

The outages are part of a planned initiative, with authorities assuring the public that efforts are underway to minimize disruption. The message “WE KEEP Moving” accompanied the announcement, attributed to Sen Chijioke Ugwuanyi, suggesting ongoing efforts to address the situation.

Residents are encouraged to plan ahead, stock up on essentials, and explore alternative power sources during this period. For the latest updates, locals are advised to stay tuned to official announcements. The cause of the outage has not been detailed in the public notice, but it is likely tied to maintenance or infrastructure upgrades.
