President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaaji as the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, effective October 7, 2025. The announcement was made by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, following allegations against Nnaaji that prompted his departure.
Nnaaji, who was appointed by President Tinubu in August 2023, submitted his resignation letter today, expressing gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve Nigeria. In his statement, Nnaaji noted that he has been a target of blackmail by political opponents, a factor that influenced his decision to step down. President Tinubu, in response, thanked Nnaaji for his service and wished him well in his future endeavors.
The resignation marks the end of Nnaaji’s tenure, which spanned over two years, during which he contributed to the administration’s efforts in advancing innovation and technology in the country. Further details regarding the allegations and the transition process are yet to be disclosed.
